These are the species of fish I’ve caught on the Berounka river since my first visit in October 2025
Note: My first visit to the Berounka was on the 16th October 2025. I fished the stretch of the Berounka that forms part of the fishery 431 025 Mže 1 in Plzeň at the point where the Úslava river joins it. This is a beautiful, fast flowing part of the river, however, the river bed is littered with the remains of fallen trees and a rocky bottom making fishing difficult.
Chub
Personal Best Chub
Apart from being the first fish caught on the Berounka, this chub is my personal best, beating my previous PB by 3cm.
It was the first fish I caught using my Sonik Xtractor+ Avon Specialist 1.75 lb test curve rod as well as the first fish caught on luncheon meat and, unusually for a chub, the first fish caught using a hair rig. All-in-all, quite a special fish for me.
